AI for Coding: From Zero Experience to a Working Website

Led by: Dhruv Kamalesh Kumar

In this hands-on Prompting Lab, participants will use AI to build a simple website for showcasing a project, program, or initiative. Designed for beginners, the session walks step by step through how to prompt AI to generate code, shape the structure and content of a site, and make updates through iteration. Participants will actively build during the session, gaining practical experience with the process of turning an idea into a functional webpage.

By the end of the lab, participants will have a clearer understanding of how AI can support coding tasks, even for those with no prior technical background. They will leave with greater confidence using prompts to create and refine code, and with a basic website that helps communicate their work in a clear and engaging way.

By the end of the session participants will learn how to:

  • Use AI prompts to generate and refine basic code for a simple website

  • Build a webpage that showcases a project, program, or initiative

  • Practice iterating on content, layout, and functionality through prompting

  • Gain confidence using AI as a tool for beginner-friendly coding tasks
